The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has suspended former governor, Senator Gbenga Daniel, and Hon. Kunle Folarin over alleged anti-party activities.
In a statement by the party’s spokesman, Nuberu Olufemi, the suspensions followed disciplinary actions initiated by their respective wards in Sagamu Local Government Area.
Ogun APC chairman, Yemi Sanusi, who presided over the State Working Committee (SWC) meeting on August 19 with 16 members in attendance, confirmed that the duo were suspended indefinitely pending further investigations.
“The meeting considered reports from the Disciplinary Committees of Ward 4 and Ward 6, Sagamu Local Government, on allegations of misconduct and anti-party activities. Both members were invited in writing to defend themselves but failed to attend, submit a written defense, or request pardon from the party,” Sanusi explained.
According to the party, the committees also received reports that Daniel and Folarin allegedly harassed party members and pressured them to withdraw petitions against them.
“In view of their deliberate and unexplained absences, the Committees deliberated, heard from available witnesses, considered documentary evidence, and concluded on the allegations,” the chairman said.
He stressed that the indefinite suspensions were necessary to protect the integrity of the disciplinary process and prevent undue interference.
Copies of the suspension letters have been forwarded to the state leadership, and the SWC has ratified the decision. The party noted that the move underscores its commitment to discipline and adherence to its constitution.
