The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has directed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to withdraw criminal complaints against Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate.
In a decisive intervention on Tuesday, Keyamo also announced a reduction of the veteran singer’s six-month flight ban to just one month, signaling a softer stance after consultations with key industry stakeholders.
The reprieve extends beyond the music icon. NCAA has also been instructed to restore the licenses of Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba of VALUEJET, following the same one-month suspension period.
On the case of Ms. Comfort Emmanson, a passenger previously embroiled in a legal dispute with Ibom Airline, Keyamo held direct talks with the airline’s management. This resulted in the withdrawal of the complaint against her. The Minister further directed the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Command to expedite remaining procedures for her release from Kirikiri Prisons within the week.
In a significant show of consensus, Keyamo also engaged the leadership of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), appealing for the removal of the lifetime flying ban imposed on Ms. Emmanson. The operators agreed to lift the sanction, paving the way for her to travel freely again.
Keyamo’s swift actions reflect an ongoing commitment to resolving disputes within Nigeria’s aviation sector through dialogue, compromise, and reform-minded decision-making.
