In what many political observers have described as a major boost ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Kebbi State, a coalition of former councillorship aspirants has openly declared support for the ambition of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN).
The group, under the leadership of Hon. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, paid a solidarity visit to Malami where they pledged total loyalty and commitment to the actualization of his governorship project. According to the group, their mission is to ensure that Malami’s ambition receives the needed grassroots support across Kebbi State.
Those in attendance include Hon. Bala Dikko Dole Kaina, Hon. Ibrahim Dandare Matawalle, Hon. Yau Abubakar Zuru, Hon. Ayuba Abdullahi, Hon. Yusha’u Ahmed Gwadargwaji, Hon. Isiah Yeldu, and Hon. Abubakar Yusuf Ngaski.
Hon. Atiku Abubakar, who spoke on behalf of the group, noted that their defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was strategic, as they have now been fully absorbed into the party’s structure at the state level. He stressed that the ADC provides them a political platform where they can actively mobilize at the grassroots for Malami’s success in 2027.
“We are determined to put in every necessary effort to ensure that Malami emerges victorious. Our loyalty is not just in words; we will back it up with massive mobilization at the ward and local government levels. Malami remains the best hope for Kebbi in 2027,” Atiku Abubakar declared.
The visit was also seen as a symbolic demonstration of Malami’s growing support base across different political divides, as many of the aspirants were formerly in the opposition PDP but have now aligned with his vision.
Although Malami has not officially declared his intention to run, the visit is widely interpreted as part of the early political alignments and endorsements that could shape Kebbi’s 2027 governorship race.
