When Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), released a statement attacking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for daring to remind him of the killings in Katsina State, he unwittingly exposed the hollow conscience of his party.
For the record, neither APC as a party nor any of its executives has ever officially condoled with victims of banditry, terrorism, or communal massacres across Nigeria. Morka only mentioned the Malumfashi killings after ADC forced the issue into the spotlight. This fact alone betrays APC’s insensitivity: the ruling party remembers the dead only when the opposition shames them into doing so.
Bandits Are Not Ghosts
Morka’s attempt to claim that government is “tracking perpetrators” insults Nigerians’ intelligence. Bandits are not hidden. They roam freely in towns and villages, run live streams on TikTok, and upload videos on Facebook. They impose taxes in markets, charge farmers levies before cultivation, and even establish courts in areas under their control. APC knows exactly where these terrorists are. It is not a matter of finding them, it is a matter of will.
Boko Haram vs Bandits: Selective Fight
The truth is that APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu only fight Boko Haram insurgents because they threaten to seize power. Bandits, on the other hand, “only” oppress ordinary Nigerians, so the government’s posture is lukewarm at best. This explains why millions continue to live under siege while Abuja pretends to be winning.
The Turji Scandal
Perhaps the most damning evidence of APC’s hypocrisy is its secret romance with notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji. After vigilantes killed over 200 of his fighters and were on the verge of crushing him, Tinubu’s government sent emissaries to negotiate amnesty. While Turji still maims, abducts, and extorts communities, APC’s priority is to “rehabilitate” him instead of defending innocent citizens. This is treachery dressed up as governance.
Poverty and Suffering on Record Levels
Beyond security, APC’s legacy is poverty. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), over 133 million Nigerians live in multidimensional poverty. Since Tinubu assumed office barely a year ago, over 50 million more Nigerians have been plunged into destitution due to the subsidy removal and skyrocketing inflation. These are not opposition talking points—they are official statistics.
Tinubu’s Foreign Trips: Who Benefits?
Morka celebrates Tinubu’s endless foreign trips, but Nigerians know the truth. Every trip ends with new loans that disappear into a bottomless pit of corruption, while the ruling elite buy luxury cars, private jets, and yachts. The people are told to “be patient, there will be light at the end of the tunnel.” What Morka will not admit is that APC itself is the NEPA that switches off that light.
Playing Politics with People’s Lives
Worst of all, Morka’s press statement was less about relief for victims and more about polling units and elections. While communities in Katsina mourn, APC thinks about ballots, not burials. This mindset is not peculiar to Morka—it is the APC way of governance.
Nigerians Deserve Better
The truth is simple: APC has failed to secure Nigeria. It has failed to lift Nigerians out of poverty. It has failed to govern with empathy. And it has failed to tell the truth. Nigerians will do well to remember this betrayal in 2027 and flush APC into the gutter where it belongs, in sha Allah.

Felix Morka’s statement is the real definition of “crassly opportunistic politics.” It is APC, not ADC, that plays politics with blood. While families bury their loved ones, APC buries the truth.
