In a decisive military operation between July 4 and 9, troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralized 24 Boko Haram terrorists in a series of coordinated raids across Borno and Adamawa States. The successful counterinsurgency push dealt a major blow to the terror group's operational strongholds in the Northeast.
According to a statement by the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Capt. Reuben Kovangiya, the ground offensives—heavily supported by precision airstrikes, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members, and local hunters—targeted identified Boko Haram enclaves, resulting in the dismantling of several camps used by the insurgents for launching attacks on rural communities and highways.
Kovangiya disclosed that the combined forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, logistics supplies, and several motorcycles used for quick strikes by the terrorists. “The troops demonstrated superior firepower, coordination, and tactical efficiency during the operations. Their bravery continues to restore normalcy and public confidence in the affected areas,” he said.
Residents in parts of Damboa, Gwoza, Madagali, and surrounding communities have reportedly welcomed the operations, describing them as a much-needed reprieve from repeated attacks and abductions.
Military sources say more clearance operations are underway as part of the ongoing efforts to dislodge remnants of Boko Haram and their Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) allies still operating in the region.
Security analysts say the recent success sends a strong message that collaboration between security agencies and local vigilantes remains crucial in the fight against terrorism in the Northeast.
