Daura, Katsina State – Grief and solemn reflection filled the air in Daura on Tuesday as the wife of former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar Malami, led a powerful delegation to the residence of the late President Muhammadu Buhari to pay condolences and attend the third-day prayer (Sadakar Uku) for the departed elder statesman.
The visit marked a deeply personal moment for the Malami family, whose bond with the late President went far beyond politics. Abubakar Malami, SAN, regarded Buhari not only as a national leader but also as a father figure, mentor, and moral compass whose rare integrity and discipline shaped the course of his career and personal growth.
Hajiya Aisha, accompanied by close allies and family members, was warmly received by sympathizers and members of the Daura community as the special prayer session continued in honour of the late Nigerian leader. The prayer, attended by thousands of mourners, symbolized the collective sorrow of a nation bidding farewell to one of its most respected and principled leaders.
President Muhammadu Buhari, a retired Major General and Nigeria’s former Head of State (1983–1985) and civilian President (2015–2023), was widely admired for his unyielding stance against corruption, his Spartan lifestyle, and his commitment to national unity.
