As the 2027 elections approach, reports suggest that some prominent aides of former President Muhammadu Buhari are planning to return to the ADC party, following complaints that Tinubu's government has neglected them despite their significant contributions to the APC's success in 2023.
These developments continue to fuel rumors of discontent and dissatisfaction regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's management of the government and party, particularly among former officials of the Buhari administration who feel sidelined.
Adamu Adamu: Minister of Education
Mr. Adamu Adamu, the former Minister of Education under Buhari's administration, played a key role in Bola Tinubu's campaign in 2023. However, since Tinubu's victory, there are allegations that he has been removed from close proximity to the government, despite his support.
Prof. Isa Ali Pantami
Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, is believed to have ambitions to run for governor of Gombe State in the 2027 elections. Reports indicate that he is considering a return to the ADC, which may facilitate a smoother path to securing a nomination compared to the internally divided APC.
Sadiya Umar Farouq
Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, was one of the dedicated women who contributed to Tinubu's campaign. Nevertheless, she has not been assigned any position in the new government. Her husband, who ran for governor in Bauchi in 2023, has already joined the ADC. Reports suggest that Sadiya may also be contemplating following suit.
Sen. Abdullahi Adamu
Former APC national chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who led the party to victory in 2023, resigned after Tinubu took office. It is alleged that this resignation came under pressure due to accusations that he did not fully support Tinubu during the primary elections. He is among the notable politicians seen as potentially returning to the ADC to advocate for a change in direction that they believe has betrayed their interests.
