The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has firmly denied recent allegations of abuse of office and misconduct, describing them as unfounded and malicious attempts to undermine the agency’s ongoing reforms.
The allegations, published by Sahara Reporters on Monday, July 7, were labeled by the FHA as “spurious and poorly crafted fabrications” lacking in evidence or credibility.
In a strongly worded statement, the FHA accused the publication of irresponsible journalism and used the opportunity to highlight key achievements under the current Managing Director, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, who assumed office in February 2024.
According to the statement, Hon. Ojo's leadership has already recorded significant progress, including:
- The digitization of the Authority’s operations, ending manual processes and curbing corruption.
- A nationwide land acquisition campaign, with visits to 28 states and successful negotiation of land allocations—many secured free of charge.
- The creation of Development Control and Revenue Drive Committees to enhance regulatory oversight and financial performance.
- A comprehensive verification exercise to regularize property documentation across the country.
- The establishment of an Enforcement Team to ensure strict compliance with development regulations.
The FHA further disclosed that its revenue has grown significantly under Ojo’s administration, resulting in improved staff welfare. The agency now pays salaries and emoluments regularly and has fully implemented the new national minimum wage.
The management attributed the smear campaign to “internal and external cabals whose channels of illegality and corruption have been blocked by ongoing reforms.”
It emphasized that the authentic staff of the FHA stand firmly behind Hon. Ojo, who is committed to transforming the Authority into a high-performing institution focused on transparency, service delivery, and national development.
