Ohanaeze Ndigbo has reiterated its call for the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), following his court acquittal. The demand was part of a communique issued after the group's leadership retreat in Enugu. The retreat also addressed significant issues affecting the Igbo people, such as unity, economic revitalization, and the preservation of Igbo culture.
The continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, despite his court acquittal, has sparked widespread condemnation and raised concerns about the respect for judicial decisions. Ohanaeze’s leadership emphasized the need for urgent attention to this matter, urging the government to act in accordance with the rule of law.
In addition to the call for Kanu's release, the retreat highlighted the importance of fostering unity among the Igbo people to ensure collective progress.
