Nationwide Thunderstorms, Rainfall Expected From Wednesday to Friday – NiMet Warns

By Zainab Imam

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather advisory forecasting widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across various parts of the country from Wednesday, June 12, to Friday, June 14, 2025.

According to the agency, the weather disturbances will be accompanied by strong winds and heavy downpours, which could pose risks to public safety, especially in flood-prone areas. NiMet urged residents to stay alert and take precautionary measures to avoid hazards such as flash floods, falling trees, and reduced visibility.

Airline operators were also advised to remain cautious and liaise closely with NiMet for real-time weather updates, as the anticipated stormy conditions could affect flight schedules and passenger safety.

“This weather pattern is typical during this period of the rainy season, but we are urging the public not to take the warnings lightly,” the agency emphasized in its statement.

NiMet reaffirmed its commitment to providing timely and accurate weather information to aid in disaster preparedness and to safeguard lives and property.
