As Nigerian Shippers’ Council Pays Courtesy Visit to Force Headquarters
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to enhancing security operations in Nigeria’s marine and blue economy sectors. He gave the assurance on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, during a courtesy visit by the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, Esq., MON, and his team to the IGP Smart Conference Room at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Force Management Team and senior police officers, focused on fostering greater synergy between the NPF and the NSC in strengthening security across the nation’s ports and maritime corridors.
In his remarks, Dr. Akutah expressed gratitude for the warm reception and applauded the enduring collaboration between the two institutions. He noted that the Nigeria Police has been a strategic partner in the Council’s regulatory and enforcement efforts, especially in the successful implementation of the Nigerian Port Process Manual (NPPM). According to him, this partnership has led to enhanced transparency, safety, and operational efficiency in port environments.
Dr. Akutah called for sustained collaboration to further bolster compliance enforcement, surveillance operations, and the protection of the Council’s monitoring teams across the country.
In response, IGP Egbetokun acknowledged the critical role of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council in advancing Nigeria’s economic agenda through the maritime sector. He assured the visiting delegation of the Police Force’s readiness to deepen collaboration, particularly through the deployment of joint task teams and strategic operations that support national development.
The IGP emphasized that the Nigeria Police remains committed to engaging relevant stakeholders across all sectors to promote public safety and institutional efficiency. He added that strong partnerships, such as that with the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, are key to enhancing the country’s internal security architecture and facilitating economic growth.
The meeting ended with mutual assurances of continued support and deeper institutional cooperation in the interest of national progress.
