In a major sting operation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 74 suspected internet fraudsters in Abuja.
The suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Monday, June 30, 2025, at Joyous Hotel, located in the Nyanya area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The operation was carried out following credible intelligence linking the suspects to a syndicate involved in cyber-related offences.
According to a statement by the Commission, items recovered from the scene include 86 mobile phones, three motorcycles, and a rifle pistol — further deepening concerns over the increasing sophistication of cybercrime networks.
The suspects are currently in EFCC custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to ridding the country of internet fraud and urged hotel operators and landlords to be vigilant about the activities of their guests and tenants.
