The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Sule, along with 14 former lawmakers, in connection with an alleged N2.5 billion fraud.
According to a statement from the anti-graft agency, the arrests were made following investigations into alleged money laundering and procurement law violations during their brief six-month tenure in office. The suspects are accused of unlawfully acquiring and retaining luxury official vehicles worth billions of naira and refusing to return them after their exit from office.
The EFCC noted that preliminary investigations have uncovered evidence suggesting flagrant abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds. The suspects are currently in EFCC custody and are expected to face charges upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commission assured the public that due process will be followed and reiterated its commitment to holding public office holders accountable for misdeeds, no matter how brief their time in office may be.
