Lagos, Nigeria – June 14, 2025
In what has been described as a game-changing development for Nigeria's downstream oil sector, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced it will commence the nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel from August 15, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the company’s management, this strategic rollout targets marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, telecommunications firms, aviation companies, and other large fuel consumers across Nigeria. The initiative also comes with free nationwide logistics support and a credit scheme to boost accessibility and affordability of petroleum products.
As part of the rollout, Dangote Refinery has procured 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers and is investing heavily in a nationwide CNG distribution network, including over 100 daughter booster stations to support smooth product delivery. The refinery says this infrastructure will enhance fuel accessibility while eliminating high transportation costs.
“This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to revolutionizing Nigeria’s energy landscape,” the statement read. “Our goal is to ensure no part of the country is left behind while making affordable fuel accessible to all Nigerians, irrespective of location.”
The refinery is also offering a credit facility to large buyers. Customers purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres of fuel will be eligible for an additional 500,000 litres on a two-week credit term under a bank guarantee.
Industry analysts say the move is expected to bring down the cost of fuel, reduce inflation, stimulate job creation, and revive dormant petrol stations across the country. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially in rural and underserved communities, are also expected to benefit from this move, which could lead to a boost in government revenue and investor confidence in the oil and gas sector.
This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and is being implemented in collaboration with the Federal Government under the Naira-for-Crude scheme. The scheme has played a key role in stabilizing the domestic fuel supply and shielding the country from global oil market volatility.
The refinery encouraged all stakeholders to complete their registration and Know Your Customer (KYC) verification between June 16 and August 15, 2025. Interested parties can contact Dangote Refinery through the following numbers:
