LAFIA – Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has declared that former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, remains a staunch member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), amid growing speculations and overtures by opposition parties to woo him away from the ruling party.
Governor Sule made the bold declaration on Friday at the Ali Akwe Doma Banquet Hall in Lafia, while speaking at the grand reception held in honour of Barrister Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), which was chaired by Malami.

“There are people out there trying to steal Malami from the APC,” Governor Sule said to thunderous applause. “But let me tell them loud and clear—Malami is going nowhere. He is a pillar of our party, and we are proud of him.”
The governor did not mince words in highlighting the silent moves by opposition parties to lure Malami away, but reassured the APC faithful that the former Minister remains firmly grounded in the progressive family.
“His intellect, legal expertise, and commitment to democratic values are unmatched,” Sule added. “As Attorney-General, Malami proved to the nation that he is not only a sound legal mind but also a true patriot who puts Nigeria first. We will continue to cherish and defend his place in our party.”
Earlier, Malami, Governor Sule, and former Governor Almakura joined in prayers at the Lafia Central Mosque for Jumuat, reflecting their shared sense of unity and spiritual commitment to the state.

The grand reception was attended by top dignitaries including Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, former Governor Senator Tanko Al-Makura, the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage (rtd.), and several political and traditional leaders.
In his remarks, Barrister Labaran Shuaibu Magaji also echoed similar sentiments, praising Malami as “a guardian of the rule of law, a bridge-builder, and a friend to all who value justice.”
The event served both as a celebration of new beginnings and a reaffirmation of loyalty to the APC, with Governor Sule making it clear that the party would not let go of one of its strongest assets.
