President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to commission what is projected to be the world’s largest cotton and polyester processing facility in Ogun State, a monumental stride under the Renewed Hope Cotton Resurgent Initiative aimed at rejuvenating Nigeria’s textile industry and generating massive employment.
Governor Dapo Abiodun made the announcement in Abeokuta during a courtesy visit by the former Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, and members of the Iperu Development Association. He revealed that the factory will be located within the Special Agro Processing Zone near the Gateway International Airport, strategically positioned in the Iperu/Ilisan axis of the state.
Occupying 400 hectares of land, the factory is expected to provide employment for approximately 250,000 Nigerians daily—an unprecedented boost to the national economy and a transformative development for Ogun State.
Governor Abiodun highlighted the area’s robust infrastructure, central access, and proximity to raw materials as key factors behind the siting of the facility. “This is more than an industrial project—it is the emergence of a new town,” the Governor said, emphasizing the ripple effects the project will have on Iperu, Remoland, Ijebuland, and beyond.
With President Tinubu expected to lead the groundbreaking ceremony, the project signals a renewed era of industrial growth, job creation, and economic expansion for the region and the nation at large.
