Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has officially launched an online registration portal and identity cards for members of his Obidient Movement, a major step aimed at formalizing and strengthening the growing political force both within Nigeria and across the diaspora.

The unveiling, which took place on Saturday, marks a significant milestone for the movement that played a pivotal role in the 2023 presidential election. Addressing supporters via a live broadcast, Obi emphasized the need for proper documentation and organization to foster unity, transparency, and accountability among Obidients worldwide.

According to Obi, the newly introduced ID cards would serve not only as a symbol of membership but also as a means of building a credible database of supporters, essential for future political engagements and community initiatives. "We must organize ourselves as a structured movement driven by purpose, discipline, and dedication to the ideals of a new Nigeria," he stated.

The online portal, designed for seamless registration, allows Obidients to enroll from anywhere in the world. Registered members will receive unique identification numbers and personalized ID cards, which Obi said would eventually serve as a gateway to participate in strategic planning, town hall meetings, and volunteer programs spearheaded by the movement.

Insiders close to the project revealed that the initiative also aims to protect the integrity of the Obidient brand by distinguishing genuine members from impostors, particularly as political activities heat up ahead of the next election cycle.

Observers see this move as Obi’s response to growing calls for the movement to evolve beyond social media activism into a solid, grassroots-driven political force capable of influencing policy and leadership selection at all levels.

Peter Obi reaffirmed his commitment to the cause of building a better Nigeria, urging his supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and focused. “Our strength lies in our discipline, our ideas, and our ability to stay united against all odds,” he declared.

Registration is now open to all individuals who identify with the values of integrity, good governance, and national development, which the Obidient Movement champions.
