In a continued effort to clamp down on economic sabotage and protect Nigeria’s vital oil infrastructure, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a suspect involved in illegal oil bunkering and destroyed a boat used to transport stolen crude oil.
According to a statement posted on the Corps’ official X handle on Wednesday, NSCDC operatives intercepted a large vessel carrying an unquantified volume of illegally acquired crude oil. The operation also led to the dismantling of the vessel and the destruction of a massive pour-put reservoir allegedly used to store the stolen product.
The statement read in part: “Arrest of one suspect, confiscation and destruction of a large boat containing illegally acquired crude oil and a large pour-put reservoir filled with unquantifiable volume of stolen crude oil.”
This decisive action underscores the NSCDC’s resolve to rid the nation’s waterways of oil thieves and ensure that critical national assets are safeguarded from sabotage and exploitation. The Corps reiterated its commitment to collaborating with other security agencies to curb oil theft and bring perpetrators to justice.
