In a determined move to boost agricultural productivity and grassroots prosperity, the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has launched the Renewed Hope Women and Youth Empowerment Programme in Oba-Oke, Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State. The initiative, rooted in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to nurture a self-sustaining middle economic class through strategic agricultural ventures.
Speaking at the launch, NALDA’s Executive Secretary described the programme as a "grassroots revolution in agribusiness," emphasizing its practical structure. Each of the 80 beneficiaries received two poultry cages, twenty three-week-old birds, and four bags of high-quality poultry feed. After a nurturing period of three to four weeks, matured birds will be purchased by designated off-takers, with profits shared among participants, NALDA, and the community, creating a continuous cycle of empowerment.
"This is more than an empowerment scheme," he stated. "We are laying the foundation for a model that can expand across Osun State and nationwide."
Established in 1992 and revitalized in 2020 under the Buhari administration, NALDA coordinates bush clearing, land preparation, processing, and marketing activities in collaboration with local and international partners. The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to tangible agricultural outcomes across crops, poultry, livestock, and fisheries.
While acknowledging the political backdrop, he stressed that the programme transcends politics. "This is a social enterprise. With sincerity and commitment, it will deliver consistent returns."
The event concluded with a strong message of unity and gratitude. "Today we begin a journey that strengthens President Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous and self-reliant Nigeria," he affirmed.
Each of the 80 beneficiaries departed with a full starter pack — two poultry cages, 20 birds, and four bags of feed — poised to begin their journey to financial independence and agricultural entrepreneurship.
