In a significant crackdown on criminal activities across Adamawa State, the police have arrested 148 suspects, including individuals linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, and sexual assault. The targeted operations, aimed at curbing rising crime, were carried out under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police.
According to SP Suleiman Nguroje, the State Police Command's spokesperson, the operations yielded impressive results, including the recovery of 11 AK-47 rifles, 20 locally made firearms, 110 rounds of ammunition, and three stolen vehicles. These seizures are considered a major success in the ongoing fight against armed criminal syndicates.
In addition to the firearm recoveries, the police, with support from other security agencies, were able to deactivate two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by Boko Haram militants in Hong Local Government Area (LGA). Furthermore, the operations led to the rescue of six kidnapped victims, who were held hostage by their captors in various locations across the state.
The police have pledged to continue their efforts, with additional operations planned as part of the state's crime reduction strategy, ensuring that those involved in criminal activities face the full force of the law. The recovery of weapons and vehicles, alongside the success in rescuing kidnapped victims, marks a significant victory for security forces working tirelessly to restore peace and order in Adamawa State.
