President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the South-West Development Commission Bill, the South-South Development Commission Bill, and the Nigeria Anti-Doping Bill, 2025, further cementing his administration’s commitment to national development and global competitiveness.
The Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Basheer Lado, announced the development, emphasizing that the establishment of the commissions is a testament to Tinubu’s dedication to inclusive governance, economic expansion, and infrastructural transformation across Nigeria.
"By signing into law the establishment of the South-West and South-South Development Commissions, President Tinubu has reaffirmed his role as a transformational leader who prioritizes regional empowerment and industrial growth. Building on the foundation of his earlier assent to the South-East and North-Central Development Commissions, it is evident that he is deliberate in ensuring development reaches every region," Lado stated.
The commissions are expected to drive industrialization, create jobs, and enhance social advancement in their respective regions, aligning with Tinubu’s broader vision for national progress.
Additionally, the Nigeria Anti-Doping Bill, 2025, underscores Nigeria’s commitment to upholding integrity in sports. By domesticating the UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sports, the law protects Nigerian athletes from unfair practices while strengthening the country’s global reputation for excellence and fair play.
