President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Aminu as the new Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB). Dr. Aminu, a seasoned academic and policy expert with 28 years of experience, holds a Ph.D. in Automobile Technology and a Master’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
Until his appointment, he served as Director of Procurement at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). A strong advocate for vocational education, he has contributed significantly to research and policy development, particularly in youth empowerment and poverty alleviation. President Tinubu charged him with the responsibility of driving transformational leadership at NABTEB to enhance Nigeria’s skilled workforce and industrial development.
In a further shake-up of the education sector, President Tinubu has also appointed Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Board. Olorunnimbe, a visionary entrepreneur and advocate for youth empowerment, has led transformative initiatives in education, entertainment, and sports. His tenure as a board member of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) saw remarkable strides in youth employment and entrepreneurship.
Other key appointments include Rasaq Olajuwon from the South West as UBEC's Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) and Tunde Ajibulu from the North Central as Deputy Executive Secretary (Services). Olajuwon, previously Director of Administration and Human Resources at LASIMRA, brings extensive experience in public sector management, while Ajibulu, a fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), has a strong background in policy development and consultancy.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system, urging the new appointees to enhance service delivery at UBEC and expand access to quality basic education nationwide.
