The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a scathing attack on the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, accusing him of orchestrating a plot to destabilize the South-West while secretly aligning with the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a strongly worded statement, the PDP claimed that Ganduje’s recent declaration to "capture" South-West states such as Osun and Oyo was not just political rhetoric but part of a broader scheme to weaken President Bola Tinubu’s stronghold and pave the way for the SDP’s dominance in the North. The opposition party warned that such maneuvers could plunge the region into political turmoil.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke was quick to condemn Ganduje’s remarks, describing them as anti-democratic and a direct contradiction to President Tinubu’s principles. According to Adeleke, electoral victories are determined by local dynamics and voter preferences, not by forceful political takeovers. He urged Ganduje to respect democratic values rather than engaging in what he termed “reckless political gamesmanship.”
While PDP’s allegations of Ganduje’s allegiance to the SDP remain unverified, the political landscape has been shaken by recent developments, particularly former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai’s defection from the APC to the SDP. El-Rufai’s move has been seen as a major blow to the ruling party, with reports suggesting he is rallying opposition leaders to mount a formidable challenge against the APC in the 2027 general election.
With tensions rising, Ganduje finds himself at the center of yet another political storm. As questions swirl about his true loyalties and the future of the APC in the South-West, the coming months are likely to test his leadership like never before.
