Deji Adeyanju Commends Fubara’s Commitment To Rule Of Law, Urges Focus On Rivers People’s Welfare

Renowned human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has commended the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for his unwavering commitment to the rule of law following the Supreme Court’s verdict on local government administration. Adeyanju lauded the governor’s decision to direct the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to conduct fresh local government elections and his directive for the Heads of Local Government Administration to take charge of the 23 LGAs as an interim measure.

According to Adeyanju, this move not only demonstrates Governor Fubara’s respect for democratic principles but also affirms his resolve to uphold constitutional order. He particularly praised the governor’s decisive instruction for outgoing local government chairmen to hand over power by Monday, March 3, 2025, in strict adherence to the Supreme Court ruling, which outlawed caretaker arrangements.

Adeyanju emphasized that, despite the political turbulence orchestrated by detractors, Governor Fubara must remain focused on the welfare of Rivers people. “Your Excellency, Nigerians across the country are rooting for you. The people’s interest must remain paramount, and we urge you to stay resolute in your mission to uplift the good people of Rivers State,” he said.

Taking a firm stance against former Governor Nyesom Wike, Adeyanju described him as the “black sheep of the Rivers family” whose influence must be curtailed. He urged Governor Fubara not to allow Wike’s political maneuverings to overshadow the progress of the state, insisting that Rivers State is not Wike’s personal fiefdom. “Do not give him a breathing space. His opposition to progress must be met with the full weight of your authority as the leader chosen by the people,” Adeyanju declared.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Adeyanju expressed confidence that Governor Fubara would emerge stronger, more determined, and fully equipped to crush any opposition, particularly from Wike. He assured the governor of unwavering public support, urging him to stay true to his principles and continue his good work for the people of Rivers State.

“History will judge you kindly for your courage and dedication,” Adeyanju concluded.
