Kaduna’s Bold Move: Senator Uba Sani Partners With IsDB To Transform Almajiri Education

In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at tackling the crisis of out-of-school children, particularly Almajiris, the Kaduna State Government, under the leadership of Senator Uba Sani, has partnered with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to construct a series of bilingual schools. These institutions will seamlessly blend Quranic education with Western curricula, offering a holistic approach to learning that fosters both academic excellence and religious values.

The initiative is set to reshape the educational landscape in Kaduna State, addressing a long-standing challenge that has left thousands of children without access to formal education. By integrating the Almajiri system into the conventional educational framework, the government seeks to equip students with essential literacy, numeracy, and life skills, ultimately enhancing their future prospects and contributions to society.

Strategically located to reach vulnerable communities, the schools are being constructed in Anchau-Takalafiya (Kubau Local Government Area), Mararaban Jos (Igabi Local Government Area), Dusten Abba (Zaria Local Government Area), and Giwa. Each facility is designed to provide a conducive learning environment, fully equipped with modern amenities to support both Islamic and Western education.

Speaking on the initiative, Senator Uba Sani emphasized the urgency of addressing the educational disparity in Kaduna. "Education is the foundation of development. By bridging the gap between religious and conventional education, we are not only empowering our children but also securing the future of our state," he stated.

The collaboration with IsDB reflects Kaduna’s commitment to global best practices in education. The initiative aligns with broader national and international efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children, a challenge that has plagued Northern Nigeria for decades.
