Born on 3rd September 1960 in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Itulah’s life story is one of perseverance and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His roots in Uromi define his values, as his upbringing in this serene Esan town instilled in him the virtues of hard work, humility, and service to the community.
Academic Pursuits: A Journey of Excellence
Rt. Hon. Itulah’s educational journey began at Ukoni Primary School, Uromi, where he studied between 1967 and 1973. It was here that his intellectual curiosity began to blossom, earning him a strong foundation that would serve him well throughout his life.
His secondary education at Esan Grammar School, Ubierumu, Uromi (1973–1978) further shaped his academic prowess. With a West African Senior School Certificate of Education (WASC-SSCE) in hand, he was ready to pursue greater challenges.
Determined to make a difference, he proceeded to the University of Calabar, Cross River State, where he earned a BA (Hons) in Philosophy in 1987. His time at the university was marked by a deep engagement with critical thinking, ethics, and leadership principles. During his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year in Imo State (1988/1989), his dedication and hard work earned him the prestigious title of Best Corps Member of the Year.
Recognizing the importance of continuous education, Rt. Hon. Itulah returned to academia in 2005, earning a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Benin. His thirst for knowledge did not stop there. Inspired to explore the legal profession, he enrolled at the University of Abuja, where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B Hons) in 2014. After completing his one-year program at the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja, he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2016, officially becoming a Barrister at Law.
