Hon. Rotimi Makinde's rising prominence in Osun State politics underscores his unwavering dedication, extensive experience, and steadfast commitment to the welfare of the people. As a former federal legislator and seasoned politician, Makinde's leadership embodies progressive ideals, positioning him as a formidable candidate for the 2026 governorship race.

A Multifaceted Leader

Born on January 3, 1966, in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Makinde's educational journey began at Ansar Ud-Deen Primary School and Okuu Grammar School in Ile-Ife. He furthered his studies at Government Teachers’ Training College in Sokoto, followed by a National Diploma in Accountancy from Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, and a Higher National Diploma from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. His academic pursuits culminated in a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master's in Finance from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso. 

Professionally, Makinde served with distinction at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for two decades before transitioning into politics. His tenure as a member of the House of Representatives for Ife Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2015 was marked by impactful projects and initiatives that significantly benefited his constituents. 

Beyond politics, Makinde is a celebrated Nollywood actor and producer, known for works such as "Shadow Parties" (2021), "Ile aje" (2006), and "Eto ikoko" (2005). His contributions to the entertainment industry have enriched Nigeria's cultural landscape. 

Championing Unity and Progress

A dedicated member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Makinde has been instrumental in fostering unity and reconciliation within the party. He emphasizes the importance of genuine reconciliation, stating, "With genuine reconciliation, APC’s future is bright." His efforts have been pivotal in strengthening the party's cohesion in Osun State. 

Makinde's deep roots in Ile-Ife and his inclusive approach to governance have earned him widespread respect. His liberalism and dedication to the welfare of both indigenes and non-indigenes have been recognized through chieftaincy titles in Ede, Ila Orangun, Ifewara, and Ile-Ife, reflecting his broad influence and acceptance across diverse communities.

He has consistently advocated for policies that promote socio-economic empowerment, education, and infrastructure development.
