Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to the welfare of retirees by initiating the third phase of pension payments, totaling N5 billion. This brings the cumulative disbursement to pensioners under his tenure to an impressive N16 billion.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor explained that this phase is part of a broader effort to ease the financial burdens of retirees who devoted decades to serving the state.
The launch underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to clearing outstanding pension liabilities and ensuring financial stability for Kano’s senior citizens.
During the initial phase, Governor Yusuf allocated N6 billion to the Kano State Pension Trust Fund, focusing on retirees below Grade Level 10. The second phase followed with the release of an additional N5 billion for retirees who had served the state for 35 years.
Speaking on the latest development, Governor Yusuf reassured retirees of his administration’s resolve to settle all outstanding pension and gratuity payments. He emphasized that retirees would receive their entitlements promptly, in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the state.
“This administration is fully committed to addressing the challenges faced by our retirees,” Governor Yusuf stated. “We will prioritize their welfare and ensure that all outstanding benefits are paid in full. Every retiree will receive their dues in a timely and transparent manner.”
The third phase of payments marks a significant milestone in the governor’s efforts to rebuild trust in Kano’s pension system and enhance the well-being of the state’s retirees.
