The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a significant blow to criminal elements in Zamfara State, killing several top bandit commanders in a series of coordinated airstrikes. The operations, carried out under the ongoing military initiative Operation FANSAN YAMMA, targeted key hideouts of the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
According to reliable military sources, the airstrikes, conducted over the past few days, successfully neutralized high-profile targets and destroyed their operational bases. Despite this victory, Turji's exact whereabouts remain unknown, fueling speculations about his status.
The NAF, in collaboration with ground troops, has intensified its offensive against bandit networks in the region. This comes as part of a broader effort to restore peace and stability to communities plagued by banditry and violence. Residents in affected areas have reportedly expressed relief and optimism following the operation's success.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, reaffirmed the military's commitment to eradicating banditry across Nigeria. “This is a message to all criminal elements: there is no hiding place,” he stated.
Zamfara State has been a hotbed of bandit activity, with Turji’s group responsible for numerous attacks, kidnappings, and killings. The government's resolve to clamp down on these activities is evident in the scale and precision of these recent airstrikes.
