The National Mosque in Abuja became a hub of political and traditional power on Friday as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Tajuddeen Abbas, governors, senators, and other prominent dignitaries gathered for the wedding fatiha of Senator Barau I Jibrin's children. The Deputy Senate President’s son, Jibrin Barau I Jibrin (Abba), wed Maryam Nasir Ado Bayero, daughter of the Emir of Bichi, while Aisha Barau I Jibrin tied the knot with Engineer Abubakar, son of Dr Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, President of Azman Group of Companies.
The ceremonies were conducted by Professor Ibrahim Maqari, Imam of the National Mosque, following the two raka'at Juma'at prayers. President Tinubu, represented by Speaker Abbas, served as both Wakil and Waliy for Senator Barau's children, while APC National Chairman Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje took on the role of Waliy for the bride from the Emir of Bichi's family. Former Nasarawa Governor, Senator Tanko Almakura, served as Wakil for Engineer Abubakar.
The event drew an illustrious mix of politicians, business moguls, and traditional leaders. Governors Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Dikko Umar Radda (Katsina), Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Mai Mala Buni (Yobe) led the pack of state executives in attendance.
The Senate was also heavily represented, with notable figures such as former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Senators Ali Ndume, Sani Musa, Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, and others gracing the occasion. Members of the ECOWAS Parliament, including Fourth Deputy Speaker Billay G Tunkara, were part of the distinguished guests.
Presidential aides, including Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, and National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, underscored the high-profile nature of the event.
