The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), through its Kano Zonal Directorate, has arraigned Sanusi Hashim for allegedly misappropriating N108 million meant for fertilizer supplies.
Hashim appeared before Justice Kabiru Dabo of the Kaduna State High Court in Zaria on a lone count of misappropriation, an offence under Section 293 of the Penal Code, punishable by Section 294.
According to the EFCC, the accused collected the sum from Ahmad Mohammad Liman and Basiru Mohammad in April 2020, purportedly to procure fertilizer from Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals. Instead, he allegedly diverted the funds for personal use.
The charge against him reads, “That you, Sanusi Hashim, sometime in April 2020... dishonestly misappropriated and converted to your own use the sum of One Hundred and Eight Million Naira (N108,000,000)... and thereby committed an offence under Section 293 and punishable under Section 294 of the Penal Code.”
Hashim pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecuting counsel, Bright C. Ogbonna, requested a trial date, prompting Justice Dabo to adjourn the case to February 10, 2025, for a bail hearing. Meanwhile, the accused has been remanded in a Correctional Centre.
