The Chairman of Kaltungo Local Government, Hon. Iliya Suleiman, has been turbaned as the Togor Yamba Kaltungo in a grand ceremony held at the Mai Kaltungo's Palace.
The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON (Dan Majen Gombe), was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.
The occasion witnessed the presence of numerous high-profile dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Luggarewo, along with other members of the House. Also in attendance were Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, the Director-General of Joint Projects, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, and the Senior Special Assistant on General Services, among others.
The SSG conveyed Governor Yahaya’s warm congratulations to the newly turbaned Togor Yamba, Hon. Iliya Suleiman. He wished him success in discharging the responsibilities associated with his new traditional title.
The historic ceremony, presided over by the Mai Kaltungo, Engr. Sale Muhammadu, OON, drew well-wishers from far and wide. Among them were Hon. Suleiman's colleagues, the Local Government Council Chairmen of Gombe State, led by the ALGON Chair and Gombe LGA Chairman, Barr. Sani Ahmadu Haruna.
Other notable attendees included Mr. Edward Adamu, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; the Mai Tula, Abubakar Atare Buba; Senator Joshua Lidani; Professor Abdullahi Alhassan of the University of Maiduguri; and Engr. Tony Nalale, General Manager of ECWA TV.
Reacting to the honor, Hon. Iliya Suleiman expressed profound gratitude to the Mai Kaltungo for the recognition and pledged to diligently fulfill the duties of his new role. He also thanked Governor Yahaya for sending a delegation to grace the occasion.
