The Tinubu Support Group (TSG) has announced the appointment of Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai as its new Director General, effective December 23, 2024. Dr. Yakasai takes over from Arch Umar Ibrahim, who has been appointed Director General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency by President Bola Tinubu.
Comrade Tosin Adeyanju expressed his excitement about Dr. Yakasai's appointment, noting that his vast experience in grassroots politics makes him an ideal fit to lead the group. "We are thrilled to have Dr. Yakasai on board," Adeyanju said. "His leadership will help guide TSG as we continue our mission to support President Tinubu's vision for a better Nigeria."
Founded by Hon. James Abiodun Faleke five years ago, TSG has grown through its extensive network to promote the president's agenda. With Dr. Yakasai at the helm, the group aims to further expand its reach and influence starting in 2025.
Dr. Yakasai is a seasoned public health expert with nearly two decades of experience, having worked with major international organizations such as the World Health Organization and USAID. He holds multiple master's degrees and has a wealth of experience in healthcare financing, policy, and governance. Previously, he served as Special Adviser on Employment to Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, and as Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
Dr. Yakasai's appointment is set to strengthen the TSG's efforts in mobilizing support for President Tinubu's agenda, ensuring that the group's activities resonate across Nigeria.
