Senate President Godswill Akpabio has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) due to his dedication to work and exceptional performance in public office.
Speaking at a book launch commemorating Wike’s 57th birthday in Port Harcourt, Akpabio described the minister as a workaholic known for delivering outstanding results in every role he has undertaken.
Addressing Wike during the event, Akpabio said:
“Let me tell you why you were nominated into the Federal Executive Council by President Tinubu, despite being an opposition politician. Your track record of performance as a local government chairman, Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government, Minister, and two-term Governor earned you the position.”
Akpabio further commended Wike for his commitment to public service, noting that his efforts have made the Tinubu administration proud, even as a member of an opposition party.
He added:
“You have transformed Abuja into a model city worthy of being the nation’s capital. Your dedication to public service leaves no room for excuses, and your results speak for themselves.
“In less than two years, you have turned Abuja into a massive construction site,” Akpabio said.
