After 433 days of the genocidal war waged by the United States and Israel, the numbers are staggering: 44,786 Palestinians have been killed, and 106,188 injured in Gaza, with the vast majority being children and women.
Medical experts report over 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for, buried under rubble or completely obliterated by advanced weaponry. The humanitarian blockade has persisted for 66 days, leaving 65,000–75,000 people in northern Gaza without food, water, electricity, or healthcare.
The destruction is not confined to lives lost. The Ambassador revealed that 7,160 families have been bombed, of which 1,410 families have been entirely wiped out. Israel's indiscriminate targeting of residential buildings has erased generations, leaving no trace of their existence. Meanwhile, the UN estimates a need for $6.6 billion to address the humanitarian crisis.
Ambassador Abu Shawesh praised Nigeria and 159 other nations for voting in favor of two recent UN General Assembly resolutions aimed at addressing this devastating crisis. However, he highlighted Israel’s new phase of warfare, a global disinformation campaign targeting the United Nations and UNRWA, which has seen 251 UNRWA employees killed and two-thirds of its Gaza facilities struck, many multiple times.
Ambassador Abu Shawesh’s statement also detailed reports of Palestinian detainees being used as human shields, families burned alive in their tents, and 47 prisoners martyred under unbearable conditions since 1967. A harrowing example cited from Haaretz noted entire families, spanning four generations, obliterated with no trace or memory remaining.
As the world faces these harrowing truths, the Ambassador's call is clear: “The nightmare must stop. We cannot continue to look away.” Humanity’s collective responsibility to act has never been more urgent.

44,786 Palestinians were killed and 106,188 injured in Gaza alone, the vast majority of them children and women.
Over 10,000 victims are still missing under the rubble or have completely evaporated due to the type of bombs used, according to the latest medical estimates.
Humanitarian aid to northern Gaza has been blocked for 66 days, leaving 65,000–75,000 people without food, water, electricity, or healthcare.
