My Full Support to H.E. Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu: Need to Beam the Searchlight on the Local Government Councils.

The Local Government Administration is regarded as the 3 tier of Government and infact, the closest to the indigenous people forming various communities which eventually makes up the state.
Going by the normal functionality of a Local Government, giving that it is closest to the people, it is supposed to be the first port of call when it comes to reduction of hardship on the People, distribution of palliatives to the people, association with the people in terms of culture, traditions, sports and local festivals. Identifying with the immediate needs and struggles of the people and giving the indigenous peoples of the various communities a shot at Government via direct participation.
Only recently, the Deputy Governor of Edo state, H.E. Rt. Hon. Philip SHAIBU made a very important call on citizens of Edo state to come forth with information that may lead to arresting and putting to a halt, the alleged looting of our common patrimony by the out going Obaseki Administration. Watching the press briefing when this call was made, I saw a Deputy Governor who truly have the interest of Edo citizens at heart, hence my support for this call. However, we shall be limiting ourselves here to the last-minute activities of local Government Councils, which ultimately forms the Obaseki state Government.
Edo citizens must join hands with the Deputy Governor of the state to stop this alleged on-going last-minute looting of our common patrimony through local Government Councils.
As we speak, it is been rumoured that one of the largest local Government Councils in Edo south is currently looting the local council's properties. It is alleged that this local Government Council recently purchased 5 new model Toyota Camry cars with council funds. While 2 of these cars are presently nowhere to be found around the Council, there are allegations that the proof of ownership document of the remaining 3 are currently being altered to reflect private ownership.
We again have it on certain authority that this particular local Government Council is indebted to 2 different Banks as loans where taken under the guise of using same for developmental projects, but in reality, the facility advanced to this local Government Council was used to finance the election of a candidate in the just concluded election which the PDP lost. Consequently, there is an aggressive drive to generate revenue in this Local Government, thereby leading to more hardship on the indigenous people. Pure water retailers, Buker operators, Beer Parlour operators, keke drivers, bus drivers, POS operators, market women and men are currently suffering untold hardship in this particular local Government Area, as they are made to pay the price for the indiscretion of this failed administration.
This is a call in support of the call made by the Deputy Governor of Edo state!
This is a humble call on the Governor-Elect of Edo state, to as a matter of National-Edo interest beam the search light on local Government records and activities, particularly records and activities within the duration of a year pre 2024 election and post election period.
This is a call to all local Government Councils Authorities in Edo state to as a matter of urgency retrace their steps, return all already looted council properties (cash, cars Generators, computers, landed properties, etc) were these allegations are true with the understanding that they are now answerable to H.E. Monday OKPEBHOLO (Edo state Governor-Elect) beginning from 12th day of November, 2024 as the councils tenure outlives Obaseki and his state Executives given his nack for doing things late and disrespect for the rule of law, leading to the late conduct of the local Government election in Edo state.
On a final note, this is a humble call on all Edo indigens both home and abroad to embrace the very important call of the Deputy Governor of Edo state and do all within our power to give our support to stoping this alleged last-minute:
#alterations of documents,
#converting of state properties to private properties,
#falsification of records,
#rush-hour appointments,
#rush-hour awards of contracts,
#eleventh hour converting of consultants from Other states to Edo state employees.
What more can we say about this out going administration?
Remember the truism, to every rumour there is an element of truth!
Then my own axiom; " allegations are the direct sons of true facts and realities"
