Kaduna State Announces Movement Restriction for October 19th Local Elections

By Mohammed Bello Doka

The Kaduna State Security Council has declared a movement restriction across the entire state ahead of the Councillorship and Chairmanship elections scheduled for Saturday, October 19th, 2024. The restriction will be in effect from 6 am to 7 pm, aiming to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process in all 255 wards and 23 local government areas.

During the restricted hours, all vehicular movement, commercial activities, and other operations that may disrupt public order are prohibited. The only exceptions are for individuals performing essential duties, who must carry proper identification and clearance to move freely during the period.

Residents are strongly advised to comply with the directive and avoid any actions that could threaten public peace or hinder the election's smooth conduct. Security personnel have been deployed across the state to enforce the restriction and maintain order.

The Kaduna State Government encourages citizens to report any suspicious activities or security threats to the authorities, rather than taking matters into their own hands. Reports can be made to the Kaduna State Security Operations Room via the following contact numbers: 09034000060 and 08170189999.

The announcement was signed by Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.
