The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has given a firm directive to the troops of Operation Fansar Yamma to capture the notorious bandit kingpin, Turji, without delay. The order was issued on Thursday at the One Brigade Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State, where Abubakar was receiving updates on the ongoing military efforts against banditry.

Addressing the troops, Abubakar conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's recognition of the military's recent progress in combating the escalating insecurity in the region. He praised the soldiers for their dedication in the face of numerous challenges and stressed the need to sustain the momentum.

“President Tinubu acknowledges the progress achieved against terrorism in recent months," the minister said. "However, there are still significant hurdles as bandits continue to terrorize communities. The President appreciates your sacrifices and is committed to providing all necessary resources to ensure the eradication of banditry, not just in the northwest but across the entire country.”

He rallied the soldiers, urging them to intensify their efforts. "Are you ready to finish them off?" he asked. "Are you ready to end banditry in this country? Please get me Turji, dead or alive."

The minister was accompanied by Maj Gen Oluyinka Soyele, Commander of the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Fansar Yamma, and Malam Mani Mummun, the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, during his visit. This directive marks a renewed push to bring notorious bandit leaders to justice and restore peace in the region.
