On October 7, an event that many have referred to as a Trojan Horse unfolded, sparking unprecedented violence and destruction across Palestine. However, many facts remain unknown, while a web of false accusations and lies continue to be perpetuated by biased Western media outlets. As the world watches, the most pressing question remains: what exactly happened on that day?
Ambassador Abdullah M. Abu Shawesh of the State of Palestine has called for an international investigation committee to be formed by the United Nations, demanding accountability for all those who committed war crimes before, on, and after October 7. "We, the Palestinians, are fully prepared to cooperate with any investigation committee, fact-finding mission, or inquiry commission," said Ambassador Abu Shawesh, emphasizing the Palestinian people’s readiness for transparency.
These atrocities are not isolated incidents but part of a historical pattern of oppression. To date, 39,059 days have passed since the issuing of the Balfour Declaration, 28,075 days since the United Nations’ Partition Plan of Palestine, and 27,907 days since Al Nakba. Palestinians have endured 57 years of brutal Israeli occupation, and the toll is devastating.
In the past 369 days of the ongoing USA-backed Israeli offensive, 16,927 Palestinian children have been killed, burned, or dismembered, while 17,000 have become orphans. A staggering 11,487 women have lost their lives, with another 60,000 critically ill due to the lack of proper healthcare. In total, 155,000 individuals are struggling to access essential health services before and after childbirth, while 96% of Gazans, including 49,300 pregnant women, suffer from severe malnutrition. Tragically, 36 children have died from extreme malnutrition and dehydration.
The devastation has extended to essential infrastructure. Approximately 65% of Gaza’s road network has been destroyed, with 31 university buildings completely leveled and another 55 partially damaged, leaving 88,000 students and 5,000 professors without access to education. The relentless bombardments have claimed the lives of 10,449 school students, 613 university students, 419 school teachers, and 111 university professors, while 16,250 school students have been injured. Furthermore, 625,000 students have been denied their right to education due to the ongoing conflict.
In the West Bank, 11,100 Palestinians are currently detained by Israeli forces, with 40 prisoners killed due to torture and healthcare negligence. Among the detainees are 740 children, 420 women, and 9,000 administrative detainees. Israel has also abducted 1,500 unidentified bodies from Gaza, including 582 taken before October 7, 56 of whom were children, and 49 were prisoners who died in Israeli custody. Since 1967, 256 martyrs have been buried in the infamous "Cemeteries of Numbers."
The assault on media and religious institutions is equally severe. Israel’s efforts to suppress the truth have resulted in the deaths of 174 Palestinian media correspondents and the destruction of 87 media outlets. The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs reported the martyrdom of 238 of its employees, the destruction of 814 mosques, and the complete demolition of 3 churches and 8 cemeteries. A further 11 cemeteries were partially destroyed, with 148 graves desecrated and thousands of bodies stolen.
In a recent attack on October 3, American warplanes carrying air-to-ground missiles, directed by Israeli pilots, raided a café in the Tulkarm Palestinian refugee camp. The attack killed, dismembered, and burned 18 people, underscoring the brutality of this ongoing genocide.
Palestinian Authority's Commitment to Peace
While fielding questions from journalists after the press conference, Ambassador Shawesh reiterated that the Palestinian Authority, under President Mahmoud Abbas, remains committed to the **Oslo Accords**, signed by both Palestine and Israel. He stressed, however, that the Israeli government has repeatedly refused to abide by the accords, refusing to allow the creation of a Palestinian state and continuing the decades-long occupation of Palestinian territories. "We are committed to peace, but Israel must also honor its obligations under international law and the agreements it has signed," Shawesh emphasized.

This includes 582 bodies before October 7, including 56 children and 49 prisoners who died in Israeli prisons, alongside 256 Martyrs buried in the “Cemeteries of Number” since 1967.
174 Palestinian media correspondents were killed and 190 were injured, with 87 media outlets destroyed. Israel is using all means and measures to stifle the truth and the voice of reality on the ground.
The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs reported that 238 of its employees and preachers were martyred, 19 others arrested, 814 mosques completely destroyed, while 148 were partially destroyed. Additionally, 3 churches were completely destroyed, 8 cemeteries were completely destroyed, and 11 partially destroyed. 148 graves were dug up, and thousands of bodies were stolen.
