The Edo State elections have progressed with over 80% of the results now released by the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) IREV platform. The People's Democratic Party (PDP) currently leads with a slight margin, totaling 288,676 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) follows closely with 228,419 votes.
The PDP's lead of 60,257 votes reflects key victories in areas like Ikpoba Okha, where they amassed 41,030 votes compared to the APC's 18,218. Oredo also saw the PDP dominate with 43,498 votes, overshadowing the APC's 18,365. Other strongholds for the PDP include Egor, with 27,621 votes, and Esan North East, where they recorded 13,579 votes.
While the APC managed significant results in areas such as Etsako West, where they secured 26,140 votes against the PDP's 17,959, the party still trails overall.
With a few results left to be declared, Edo State remains on edge as both parties await the final outcome. The next announcements will determine whether the PDP holds on to its slim lead or if the APC can stage a dramatic comeback.
