As the 2025 Anambra Governorship Elections approach, the All Progressives Congress (APC) stands at a pivotal moment, ripe with the opportunity to bring transformative leadership to the state. The party has missed the chance to claim the government house in past elections—2013, 2017, and 2021. Now, with Chukwuma Michael Umeoji, a seasoned leader with a wealth of experience, APC has a unique chance to turn the tide.
Chukwuma Umeoji, also known as "OBA Aguata," is a leader who brings a blend of experience, competence, and a deep understanding of Anambra's political landscape. He has served as a 5th ECOWAS Parliamentarian, a member of the 6th and 9th National Assembly (2007-2011 and 2019-2023), and held the position of Executive Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area. His leadership was further demonstrated as the last ALGON Chairman in Anambra, earning him the title "Chairman of all Chairmen." Umeoji’s extensive public service record includes roles on the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, and various committees in Anambra State, such as the Vigilante Supervisory Committee, Joint Account Committee (JAAC), and the Board of Anambra State Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA).
Recently appointed as Executive Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Umeoji’s credentials are bolstered by his extensive network and experience in governance and public administration. His leadership is not only administrative but also deeply rooted in community service and grassroots mobilization, having served as a former Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Grassroots Mobilization. As a human capacity builder, Umeoji understands the needs and aspirations of the average Onye Anambra, making him a unique candidate who has been "tried, tested, and trusted."
The upcoming governorship election presents a critical juncture for the APC in Anambra State. With Umeoji at the helm, the APC is not only poised to contest but to win the hearts of the electorate. Umeoji’s reputation as a “liberator” stems from his commitment to public service and his vision for a prosperous Anambra, where governance is centered on the people's needs. His candidacy offers the best chance for APC to finally take over the government house, a feat that has eluded the party for too long.
In addition to his political and administrative acumen, Umeoji is a dedicated Catholic and a Knight of St. John International (KSJI), reflecting his deep-rooted values and commitment to integrity. He is also an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (AMNIM) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Administration (FCPA), further emphasizing his multifaceted expertise and leadership capabilities.
To achieve a historic victory in 2025, the APC must rally around a candidate who embodies both the experience and vision required to lead Anambra State into a new era. Chukwuma Umeoji is not just a candidate; he is a symbol of change, competence, and commitment to the people of Anambra. The call is clear: the time for APC to take over Anambra State is now, and the only sure bet to the government house is by giving Chukwuma Michael Umeoji the chance to lead.
