President Tinubu Makes New Appointment

In a recent move to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the new Managing Director and Senator Adedayo Adeyeye as the Chairman of the Board.

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho brings an impressive academic background to his new role, with a Doctorate degree in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University and a Master’s degree in International Transport from Cardiff University, Wales. His extensive experience within the NPA includes roles such as Assistant General Manager, Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, Port Manager of Onne Port, and Principal Manager of Tariff & Billing.

Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, appointed as Chairman of the Board, is a distinguished lawyer, journalist, and politician. His career highlights include serving as the Minister of State for Works and representing Ekiti South Senatorial District as a Senator. His diverse expertise is expected to provide strategic oversight and leadership to the NPA.

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of these appointments, stating that the new leadership is expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Nigeria's ports, thus fostering improved industry outcomes. This strategic decision underscores the administration’s commitment to revitalizing key sectors of the economy through competent and experienced leadership.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, announced these appointments on July 12, 2024, expressing confidence in the capabilities of Dr. Dantsoho and Senator Adeyeye to drive excellence within the NPA.
