Edo State, July 29, 2024 – The APC New Media Directorate has issued a dire warning to Edo State residents, urging them to exercise heightened vigilance amidst serious allegations against Governor Godwin Obaseki. The Directorate's recent press release accuses Obaseki of allegedly using the Edo State Security Network (ESN) to manipulate the upcoming gubernatorial election, scheduled for September 21st.
In a recent address before the National Assembly, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), voiced grave concerns about the security of the forthcoming Edo elections. Yakubu revealed that a political party had raised serious allegations that Obaseki is allegedly weaponizing the state vigilante network to interfere with the electoral process.
The APC New Media Directorate's statement detailed these concerns, alleging that Obaseki has been recruiting a large number of individuals into the ESN. The Directorate expressed fears that this expanded security network could be strategically used on Election Day to secure a victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), thereby undermining the integrity of the election.
"The allegations against Governor Obaseki are deeply troubling and require immediate attention from all Edo citizens," the press release emphasized. "We urge everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities. It is imperative to safeguard the integrity of our democratic process and ensure a free, fair, and transparent election."
