In a decisive move towards combating climate change and promoting sustainability, President Bola Tinubu has established the Presidential Committee on Climate Action and Green Solutions. This high-powered committee, chaired by President Tinubu himself, aims to spearhead Nigeria's efforts in addressing environmental challenges and fostering green innovations.
The committee is comprised of a diverse group of members, including top government officials, industry leaders, and representatives from key federal ministries and agencies. The Vice-Chairman of the committee is Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the Minister of Environment, while Ajuri-Obari Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President, will serve as Secretary and Special Presidential Envoy.

This committee is tasked with developing and implementing strategic initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, enhance renewable energy adoption, and ensure sustainable development practices across the nation. President Tinubu emphasized the urgency of the committee’s mandate, highlighting the need for immediate and coordinated action to address the climate crisis and secure a greener future for Nigeria.
