IGP Reaffirms Commitment to National Security

Ughelli, Delta State – In a significant development following the tragic attack on police operatives in Ohoro Forest, Ughelli, Delta State, the Nigeria Police Force has successfully recovered ten out of thirteen stolen police rifles and neutralized several bandits involved in the ambush. This recovery is a major breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to combat crime and restore security in Delta State and beyond.

The attack, which resulted in the deaths of several police officers, had sent shockwaves through the community, heightening concerns about safety and security. Leveraging recent directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) was swiftly mobilized. The IGP emphasized the importance of succinct intelligence gathering and sharing for effective operational deployments, and this strategy has borne fruit.

During the coordinated operation, the gallant operatives of the FID-IRT engaged the suspects in a fierce gun duel within the dense Ohoro Forest. The intense firefight led to the neutralization of some of the bandits while the police operatives successfully reclaimed ten of the stolen weapons. Additionally, several arms used by the assailants were recovered from the scene.

In a related success story, the Nigeria Police have also made headway in addressing the kidnapping crisis that has plagued the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Six members of a notorious kidnapping gang, responsible for a spate of abductions along this critical route, have been apprehended. These arrests follow a meticulous investigation and intelligence-gathering process. The suspects are currently in custody and are cooperating with ongoing investigations, offering critical insights that are expected to lead to further breakthroughs.

IGP Egbetokun, in his statement, reassured the public of the Police Force’s unwavering commitment to combatting criminal activities across the nation.
