PDP Chieftain Urges Edo Women to Support Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie in 2024 Governorship Election

By Mohammed Bello Doka

In a bid to bolster support for the upcoming Edo state Governorship election, the Asue/Ogie Solidarity Movement (AOSM) State Woman Coordinator, Hon Elizabeth Abai, has embarked on a fervent campaign urging Edo state women to throw their unwavering support behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates, Dr. Asue Ighodalo and his Deputy Osarodion Ogie. Abai's efforts are driven by the imperative of continuing the transformative agenda initiated by Governor Godwin Obaseki, particularly in advancing the welfare and representation of Edo women.

From her base in Ekpoma, located within the Edo Central Senatorial District, Abai issued a compelling press statement highlighting the pivotal role women must play in shaping the state's future. She emphasized Governor Obaseki's staunch commitment to gender equality, noting with pride that nearly fifty percent of government appointments, including key positions in the State Executive Council and other governmental bodies, are held by women. "Governor Obaseki's unwavering dedication to uplifting Edo women is evident through the unprecedented inclusion of women in decision-making roles," Abai asserted.

Drawing from Governor Obaseki's legacy, which has seen a marked improvement in the lives of women across the state, Abai passionately urged Edo women to rally behind the PDP candidates, Ighodalo and Ogie. She cautioned against the risks of deviating from Governor Obaseki's progressive policies, highlighting the potential setbacks that could arise from electing candidates outside the PDP fold. "It is imperative that we maintain continuity to safeguard the hard-won gains and ensure the sustained advancement of women's interests in Edo state," Abai stressed.

With fervor and conviction, Abai traverses communities and neighborhoods, engaging women from all walks of life, galvanizing support for Ighodalo and Ogie. Her message resonates deeply, igniting a sense of unity and purpose among Edo women as they prepare to exercise their civic duty in the forthcoming election. As the campaign gains momentum, Abai remains steadfast in her commitment to empowering Edo women and securing a brighter future for generations to come.
