In a recent address during a visit to President Tinubu in Lagos, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State spoke fervently in favor of the ambitious Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, labeling it as a monumental undertaking poised to revolutionize transportation infrastructure and stimulate economic growth across the nation. With a length stretching over 700 kilometers, the highway project holds the promise of enhancing connectivity between Lagos and Calabar, two major coastal cities in Nigeria, thereby facilitating smoother trade routes and bolstering regional development.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, emphasized the transformative impact that the completion of this highway would have on various sectors, including commerce, tourism, and agriculture. He underscored the importance of such infrastructural investments in laying the foundation for sustainable economic progress and urged for continued support and collaboration to ensure the timely execution of the project.
During the visit, which coincided with the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri, Governor AbdulRazaq was part of a high-level delegation led by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, which included Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas. The delegation conveyed their appreciation for President Tinubu's efforts in stabilizing the economy and improving living standards, acknowledging positive indicators such as the gradual decline in food prices and the strengthening of the national currency against the dollar.
In his address to President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq lauded the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare's allocation of funds for the establishment of 8,800 primary healthcare centers, emphasizing the crucial role of accessible healthcare in promoting public welfare and societal well-being.
Furthermore, Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude for the Federal Government's support in addressing food shortages by distributing grains to states, which has contributed to a reduction in food prices. He commended President Tinubu's proactive approach in mitigating the impact of food scarcity and urged for sustained efforts to ensure food security for all citizens.
In closing, Governor AbdulRazaq reiterated the unwavering commitment of state governors to collaborate with the federal government in advancing initiatives aimed at fostering national development and prosperity.
