In a significant breakthrough, the FCT Police Command apprehended Chukwuemeka Oputa, alias "Pounds and Dollar," along with four other members of his notorious armed robbery gang. Oputa, identified as the gang leader, has been linked to a string of armed robberies and other criminal activities in the FCT region.
The arrest of Oputa follows the capture of Moses Hassan, a known cultist and accomplice, earlier this year. Subsequent investigations led to the apprehension of three additional gang members: Praise Etta, Rafael Dav alias "Raffy," and Thomas Akange. All suspects have confessed to their involvement in various criminal acts and are purported members of the Viking confraternity.
A significant cache of weapons was recovered during the operation, including four locally fabricated AK47 rifles, three improvised firearms utilizing cartridges, an English pistol, a locally made pistol, and a Dane gun. Additionally, ammunition and other incriminating evidence were seized from the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, reiterated the commitment of law enforcement to rid the region of criminal elements. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
The swift action of the FCT Police Command demonstrates their dedication to ensuring the safety and security of the community, sending a clear message to criminals that their activities will not be tolerated.
For further assistance or to report suspicious activities, residents are encouraged to utilize the Police emergency lines provided.
