Before Governor Hope Uzodimma Dents President Tinubu's Imagine

BY BARR AKINWOLE OLASUNKAMI ESQ
Dear Mr. President,

Your Excellency, we have watched with admiration how you have stood aloof over the activities and politicking that have hitherto characterised the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries in the Sunshine State. You have shown nothing but a consummate and dependable political ally to all aspirants. You have provided level playing field for all to test their competence. This, the world itself, has seen what a leader the country, and indeed Africa has in you.

Dear President, we write, following the feelers that we got from the villa, of a purported declaration of support for the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyédatiwa against all other aspirants by the leadership of a group known for ita cash and carry approach to democratic tenets, we want to believe this information remains in the realm of speculation, because that is not idiosyncratic of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that we all know.

It is not out of place for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors' Forum to want to support one of their own. But what is anti-democratic and against the spirit of sportsmanship is to want to use the forum to blackmail the President to support one of them. We know you as a true democrat and as someone will never kowtow the wish of the group.

We must stress the fact that Ondo State is unique among the states in the entire South West. Any attempt by The Presidency to go by any shenanigans that will undermine the exercise slated to hold on Saturday, April 20, the party will find itself to blame for it. While, the other 15 aspirants will not hesitate to consider a move into the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP), the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will find itself to blame come the main poll in November.

We advise that Mr. President not only call Governor Hope Uzodimma, a man who's reputed for playing transactional politics to order, but also send a stern warning to the APC Governors' Forum to toe
the line of democratic ethos by allowing level playing field for all aspirants, including Governor Aiyédatiwa who is one of them.

We have it on authority that Gov. Uzodimma, as usual was paid N5bn by the outgoing Gov Lucky Aiyédatiwa to perfect the party’s electoral fraud for him. We are not oblivious of a similar thing he did in Edo State recently, and now, acting through Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the South West coordinator to carry out their nefarious plot.

We therefore call on Mr. President not to bow to the whims and caprices of the APC Governors' Forum. A word, they said, is enough for the wise, Mr. President, sir.
