In a daring and resolute mission, the Nigerian Army, alongside hybrid force elements, delivered a decisive blow to terrorism on Sunday, March 10, 2024, as they successfully eliminated eight terrorists belonging to the notorious Boko Haram (BHT)/ISWAP faction. The operation, executed with precision in Ukuba within the infamous Sambisa forest, saw the valiant troops engaging in a fierce gun battle that forced the terrorists to retreat in disarray, leaving behind their camp and weapons cache.
During the meticulous search of the captured camp, the gallant soldiers uncovered five locally fabricated double barrel guns, two motorbikes, and assorted food supplies belonging to the terrorists. The seizure of these weapons and resources dealt a significant blow to the capabilities of the terrorist group, further disrupting their nefarious activities in the region.
Simultaneously, in a separate clearance operation conducted in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, the troops liberated several villages from the grip of insurgents. In a display of unwavering courage, they engaged the enemy in combat, resulting in the neutralization of two insurgents and the rescue of a civilian held captive by the terrorists. The successful operation also yielded the recovery of three AK-47 rifles, along with ammunition and communication equipment, essential for the insurgents' operations.
Expanding their reach, troops extended their operations to Zamfara State, where they cleared numerous villages in Gusau and Maru Local Government Areas. In the face of adversity, the soldiers confronted and neutralized two insurgents, seizing their weapons and dismantling their operational infrastructure, including a cache of arms and ammunition.
In a strategic maneuver in South Eastern Nigeria, troops launched a raid on an arms production facility operated by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) fighters. Nestled between Ekoli Edda and Amagwu Ohafia communities in Abia and Ebonyi States, this clandestine factory served as a hub for manufacturing firearms and ammunition. The vigilant troops, equipped with unparalleled determination, dismantled the facility, recovering fabricated AK-47 rifles, a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bomb, flags of the insurgent groups, and machinery used in weapon production.
These triumphant operations underscore the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Army in safeguarding the nation's security and combating terrorism. As Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized, the public's continued support is instrumental in bolstering the efforts of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the ongoing battle against the nation's adversaries.
